Providing quality community support and health care services for people with physical disabilities

Welcome to Community Living Alliance

Community Living Alliance (CLA), is a community based, non-profit organization that provides community resources for people with physical disabilities. CLA was created by Access to Independence, an independent living center, to bring the values of the independent living philosophy to a community service organization.

CLA was created and is governed by people with disabilities. People with disabilities wrote the organization's mission statement and by-laws.

CLA Services

CLA is an entirely new kind of organization. We provide access to social, health, and community resources. CLA has two primary programs: CIP/COP Service Coordination and Medical Assistant Personal Care (MAPC). Depending on the programs, services offered may include attendant care, service coordination, chore services, primary health care, prevention education, training, referral and other information.

CLA provides equal service delivery opportunities to all qualified consumers without regard to race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin or ancestry, citizenship status, marital status, sexual preference, political beliefs, disability, and any other characteristic prohibited by law.

Operational Principles

Community Living Alliance adheres to a series of operational principles. To achieve this mission, we:

  • Provide services which will treat consumers as dignified individuals who have responsibilities and rights.
  • Encourage consumers to manage their own services to the greatest extent possible.
  • Provide the information necessary for consumers to make informed decisions.
  • Offer quality services on a timely basis.
  • Work to improve the attitudes and practices of the human services and health care professions toward people with disabilities.
  • Support consumers to participate in the community.
  • Adapt services to meet the changing needs of individual consumers.
  • Utilize public and private resources effectively and equitably to carry out the individual service plan of consumers.
